Carr Garden Design

Smart garden and landscape design made to meet your needs with a naturalistic approach.

The reintroduction of local flora & fauna into our communities…

Advice and support to everyone from the client seeking a small native plant focused garden project, to the client completely replacing their lawn with a waterwise alternative, we’re here to help. We believe everyone can take a step towards a more natural, less labor-intensive outdoor space, while still supporting our local wildlife.

We offer a tailored approach to clients looking for garden design that has a focus on native perennials and self-sowing annuals. This approach requires no pesticides, no intensive watering and significantly less manual upkeep, following the Right Plant, Right Place method. When you choose plants that are well-suited to the location where they are planted, they will perform better with limited additional input. It’s a lower impact on the environment and less work for you.

what  makes us different

We are not a "cookie cutter" design company. We developed our company because we saw a gap in the local landscape and design offerings. Most services we found focus on generic and non-native plant selection that, while easy to copy & paste for the designer, don’t necessarily perform well for the client over time. Plants like boxwood and Japanese maples are easy to source and in almost every landscape design these days. However, experience shows these choices are highly susceptible to diseases like box blight, fugal disease, or require frequent tailored trimming. Your landscape will look good for a year or two, but then many of your plants may succumb to disease.

We design landscapes for those wanting to:

  • eliminate the intensive manual labor and water upkeep of tradition landscaping and grass lawns

  • remove scientifically proven harmful chemicals from their lawn and reduce the exposure of their family and pets (chemically treated lawns increase the risk of dog cancer by 200%, study, study & glyphosate is now suspected of impacting male fertility, study)

  • save money by not having to replace non-natives when they die, succumb to disease, or get too large for the space

  • enrich our environment

  • bring back native fauna to your landscape while still maintaining a beautiful appearance

  • successfully meet the demands of an ever changing climate

  • provide four season interest
